Plot
Police raid an illegal gambling house. Fights ensue and the father of a family dies. The mother (Kim Yeong-Ae) now relies on her two sons and one daughter, with the family going through many struggles.
Dong-Hoon (Joo Jin-Mo) is the eldest son. After his father's death is personality grows darker. Dong-Hoon fights all the time and becomes feared for his violent prowess. Younger brother Dong-Jin (Lee Min-Woo) is the anti-thesis of his brother and focuses on his studies. Dong-Jin worries about Dong-Hoon's penchant for physical altercations. By his third year in high school, Dong-Hoon beats up guys who attacked Dong-Jin. Dong-Hoon is arrested. Through all of this, Dong-Jin is able to get into college and studies law.
Younger sister Mi-Na (Bae Doo-Na) is often absent from school and wears weird clothes. She is labelled a juvenile delinquent.
After getting out of prison, Dong-Hoon joins President's Hwang's gang. He is embarrassed that he is now a gangster. Because of this, he stays away from his family.
Dong-Hoon meets Jung-Hee (Park Jin-Hee) at a small restaurant where he eats his meals alone. Jung-Hee is a part-time employee at the restaurant. They soon fall in love. Afterwards, Dong-hoon discovers Jung-Hee is the daughter of a rival crime boss. Dong-Hoon tries to break up with her but can't.
Dong-Jin works part-time as a chauffer. One day, he goes to a room salon, while working, and meets his first love Soo-Jin (Lee Eun-Ju). Soo-Jin is a prostitute working out of the room salon. Dong-Jin is shocked over the change in Soo-Jin. They decide to never see each other again. Nevertheless, they meet each other again after Dong-Jin drops out of school and becomes a detective ...
