Plot
Ryu Hae-Kuk (Park Hae-Il) enters a reclusive country village to attend his father's funeral. During his stay he investigates the death of his father and uncovers what appears to be a conspiracy. Why do the villagers act so strange? Why do they keep asking him when he will return to Seoul? The man then confronts the village leader Cheon Yong-Deok (Jung Jae-Young). The secrets of the village then start to unravel ...
Notes
- Based on an internet comic that began in 2007.
- Filming started on August 29th 2009 with an expected release date sometime in the first half of 2010.
- Approximately 80%-90% of the film will be shot on a replicated village in Muju County, South Korea. The shooting location will then be incorporated into the Taekwondo Park currently under construction on the same land in Muju County and expected to open in 2013.

I have no idea how faithful "Moss" is to the original internet comic, but as a standalone film "Moss" is a well done mystery/thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seas. There's also a healthy dose of unexpected comedy that gracefully tones the thriller down when needed.
Moss is directed by Kang Woo-Suk - director of such films as "Public Enemy," "Silmido," and the nasty turd known as "Hanbando". "Moss" will likely to turn out to be one of the better Kang Woo-Suk films and in "Moss" you'll spot a bevy of regular actors he works with including Jeong Jae-Yeong - who will likely walk away with plenty of end of the year awards for his performance.
"Moss" isn't (thankfully) about another serial killer, but rather a clever mystery that unfoils over 163 minutes (runs a bit long but you'll only notice the extended run time a few times). Performances by all the well known cast members are rock solid, make-up job for Jeong Jae-Yeong's village leader works great (he plays a character from his 20's all the way up to his 60's or 70's), and the story comes out unique in a good way for big budget summer Korean film. Do check out the "Moss" when you get a chance.
