TBS was first establised in May 1951 as Radio Tokyo, Inc. In December of 1951 Radio Tokyo Inc. launched its first radio broadcast. Then in April of 1955 Radio Tokyo Inc., launched its first television broadcast. In September of 1960 Radio Tokyo, Inc. transmitted its first ever color broadcast. The company in November of 1960, then changed its name from Radio Tokyo, Inc. to Tokyo Broadcasting System, Inc and began using its coporate logo "TBS."
