NTV was first established in October of 1952 with paid-in capital of 250 million yen. In August of 1953 the company was granted their formal TV broadcasting license and commenced their commercial broadcasting (August 28, 1953). The company became a publicly traded company in September 1959 and began listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Television broadcasting is the core business of the NTV Group. NTV broadcasts news, variety shows and dramas, as well as animation, sports and other content on their network. NTV also produces and releases films; holds sporting events; sponsors art exhibitions and concerts; publishes and sells publications; plans and produces music and music videos; operates a licensing business; and plans and sells musical and video recordings on CDs, videotapes, DVDS, and other media.
Other businesses involve commercial tenant and office building leasing and management, insurance agency sales, the sale of novelty goods at various events, management of a professional soccer team and Internet-related services. We are also involved in the broadband business, the production and sale of artexhibit- related goods, the provision of district heating and cooling systems and market research on overseas television and radio broadcasting.
