Bio
Kichitaro Negishi was born in 1950 in Tokyo. After graduating with a theatre major from the literature department at Waseda University, he entered Nikkatsu as an assistant director, apprenticed under Toshiya Fujita and Chuusei Sone.
Debuted as a director with Orion no Satsui Yori, Jouji no Houteishiki (aka, Orion's Intent to Kill, Love Affair Equation '78), and later he was awarded with the Blue Ribbon Director Prize and the Ministry of Culture's Arts Festival Best Newcomer Prize for Enrai (aka, Distant Thunder '81). He gained a great reputation particularly for his fresh take on the times, reliable dramaturgy as well as precise direction and story depiction.
