17 year old Hye-na (Kim Hye-Na) has a self-induced abortion in a public restroom. She emabarks on a trip to find her long lost mother. At the bus station, Hye-na meets middle-aged woman Oak-nam (Seo Ju-Hie). Oak-nam has been abandoned by her husband after he discovered that she slept with an elderly man for money. Oak-nam is now seeking to find "Flower Island". Hye-na decides to join Oak-nam on her trip. The two woman then come across Yu-jin (Lim Yu-Jin), a former opera singer now stricken with cancer. The three woman trek together to discover the mythical "Flower Island" - a place where people can forget all their sorrows ...
Notes
- Director Song Il-Gon first made a one minute film titled "Flush" for the video exhibition "Media City Seoul 2000". That short film depicted a teenage girl's abortion in a public restroom. Song Il-Gon then expanded that short film into the feature length film "Flower Island".
